Don't Write Anything Else Until You Fix This Mistake

I can come up with a list as long as my arm with marketing mistakes that I’ve seen so many business owners making just this week, and it’s only Monday.
By far the most common one I’ve seen is “waffling.” Funnily enough, it’s one of the mistakes that has the biggest negative impact on your marketing.
Don’t worry though, by the end of this, you’ll be avoiding waffling like the city centre at rush hour.
=How Waffling Can Damage Your Reputation=
There was a point, right around the time dinosaurs roamed the earth, I was given the prestigious title of “king waffler.”
This wasn’t just a nickname to poke fun, it had real meaning.
I got this name from my boss at the time because everything I wrote would go on and on, worse than those ads everybody loves before a film at the cinema.
It got so bad that it almost cost me my job more times than I like to remember. This one particular time I was on a sales call with a very big client. Like most people, I felt like the walls were closing in.
I panicked and went “full waffle.” Diving into huge detail about our company, its mission, and why we were soooo cool.
Long story short, they hung up on me mid-sentence, we lost the contract, and I was in big trouble.
=Life’s Hard When You Waffle=
Being this way made it extremely hard to do my job, never mind do it well.
Here’s an example of an email I sent to a potential buyer.
Hi John,
“This is Josh from BIG Car Sales.
I don’t want to take up too much time as I’m sure you're very busy running your business and doing everything you love to do.
I’ll get straight to the point of why I’m emailing you today.
We have the green Ford Fiesta in our showroom that you wanted to have a look at. I’m sure you’re a very busy man so if you can give me a call as soon as possible we can look at getting you booked in to have a look.
Have a good day,
Josh.”
There’s nothing that screams GET TO THE POINT! Like this.
I hate to say it but I was no better on the phone, in fact looking back, I was probably worse.
I personally don't hang up on anyone. But if I was on the receiving end of something like this, I just might.
=Strip The Waffle From Your Life=
Let’s fix that email:
Hi John,
Josh here from BIG Car Sales,
We have the green Ford Fiesta you enquired about, in our showroom until Friday.
If you could give me a quick call, we’ll get you in for a viewing.
Look forward to speaking to you soon.
Kind regards,
Josh.
See how this is so much better. It’s to the point, no question of what it's about, like kicking in someone's front door. You know why they're here.
Arno, my mentor, taught me how to strip away the waffling. Usually, nothing is a quick fix but honestly, this changed my life fast.
Stripping away my waffling was the beginning of my complete domination of that company. It led me to become the top salesman within a matter of months.
So, how do we strip away the waffling?
Don’t beat around the bush.
Get to the point, the heart of the matter, the reason we’re all here.
No need to harp on about your company or your mission, just address the reason we’re having the conversation in the first place.
It’s that simple.
Do this and I guarantee It’ll help you get your business miles ahead of your competition.
Talk soon,
Josh
