This Trick Will transform You Into A Sales Hero

Ever pitched a potential client your product and you just can’t get them to bite?

I know I have. You’ve practised this pitch in front of the mirror 1000 times. Memorized the answer to every possible question and they still hit you with the “I need to think about it.”

Let me help you out.

There’s a thing called the “Reciprocity Reflex.”  I’m going to go through what it is, and how to exploit it (don’t worry, in a good way) so you'll never have to struggle with closing new clients again.

=Why The Bad Rep?=

When you hear the term “sales”, most people think: Dishonest. Lies. Sleazy. Gift of the gab.

Yes, a lot of salesmen sell this way, although it’s really ineffective and gives sales a bad reputation.

You can smell sleaziness from a mile off, like when you had that dodgy curry from down the street, you know the rest.

Why?

These people don’t actually know how to sell.

They are stuck in the old ways, having to persuade people to buy something they don’t need, just to make a quick buck.

We don’t do that.

=Avoid The Hard Close=

I’ve always hated hard closing, pretty much forcing someone to buy right there and then.

Yes, it’s a direct way of getting money but it doesn’t really sit right with me.

When I first jumped into sales, I couldn’t sell a chocolate bar to a hungry kid. I tried so many different methods and wasted so many hours. Even my boss at the time struggled to teach me and he was a damn good salesman.

After at least 27 sales calls I finally came across the break I needed. This massively upgraded my sales and I was closing left, right, and centre.

I discovered this completely by chance. I was at home scrolling my feed, feeling sorry for myself after another bad day of what seemed like endless calls and ZERO sales.

I came across a video explaining something called the “Reciprocity Reflex.”

I know it sounds complicated but don’t worry, it’s really not.

Reciprocity is built directly into our psyche and that’s what makes it so great.

=How To Exploit Reciprocity(In A Good Way)=

Luckily we can exploit this, in a good way of course.

We’ve all been in a situation where someone has helped us out in some way without asking for anything in return. But there’s that little gremlin in the back of your head saying “What’s his motive for helping me.”

Don’t worry, that's a pretty standard response.

But when you think about it and realise he doesn’t actually want anything from you, something else comes to mind.

“This person helped me out, I want to return the favour.”

Don’t take this to the extreme though. It doesn't mean you have to rescue the guy from the middle of the Sahara desert.

=How To Make This Work For You=

The trick is to help people by actually helping them. Not by pretending to help.

This can take the form of free value. So we’re talking e-books, free guides, free consultations, advice, articles, the list goes on.

I know it’s hard to give something away for free when the whole point of your business is to make money.

However, this builds trust. Your potential customer will already feel good about you before they even talk to you.

This makes selling so much easier and so much less nerve-wracking.

You're already halfway towards the sale before you even get on the call, the rest is just making them see why you’re the guy (or girl) for the job.

Use this and I guarantee your sales success will increase dramatically.

Talk soon,

Josh
